We hope this finds you safe and healthy. Much like the rest of the country, the COVID19 situation in the Gunnison Valley continues to evolve on a daily basis. This week, the county discussed possible guidelines concerning attendance limits for events this summer. The guidelines suggest that the largest event size in August could be 50 people. In light of these uncertainties, we have decided to hold a virtual event for the 25th Annual Crested Butte Open.
While we are heartbroken that we cannot gather together in the Lacy Arena, we are hard at work to ensure that our virtual event will be entertaining and successful in continuing to support the mission of the Adaptive Sports Center.
As the country begins to reopen and we adjust to a new way of life, our outdoor programs for people with disabilities and their families will be more important than ever before. Like many in the country, our participants have experienced isolation and limited access to nature and physical activity during this time. Our programs will help our participants experience the healing power of nature, gain confidence in themselves and explore the outdoor world around them. When we are permitted to get back to providing our programs, we will be ready with your support.
We are still working out the details for our virtual event, so expect to hear from us again soon. In the meantime, please mark your calendar for the online auction to begin the last week in July, culminating with a virtual event on the evening of Sunday, August 2nd.
Please plan to join us for the 25th Annual Crested Butte Open, and our first-ever virtual event!
